Is the Secret Law of Attraction Worthless Hype?

The concept of the secret law of attraction has swept the 21st Century
like floral upholstery for your couch and olive green appliances for your
kitchen did in the 1970s. I envision there are people all around the world
laying on their couches thinking all they have to do is “ask, believe, accept,”
as taught in the book “The Secret.”

But can I “ask” for something, “believe” it will happen, “accept” it into my life,
and lay on my couch waiting for it to be delivered from the heavens down
unto me? I think not.

How dare I question something as wildly promoted by the likes of Joe Vitale
and Jack Canfield as the book “The Secret” has been. “Thoughts are things.”
“What you think about you bring about.” “Your thoughts create your
life.” These are quotes from some of my favorite, and the most respected,
personal development and business philosophers of our time.

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard about the secret law of attraction
in one form or another. Are the laws of attraction anything more than the
product of marketing geniuses who have engineered yet another way to suck
millions of dollars from the pockets of lazy Americans looking for a quick fix?

When you Google “the law of attraction” 1,460,000 results are returned in .24
seconds. The number of courses, books, Ebooks, audio programs, live events
you can purchase is mind boggling. Yes, many of them are probably worthless.
Regurgitated, uninformed, uninspired attempts to cash in on the latest, greatest
thing and make money.

And I’ve heard grumblings recently from many people that the laws of attraction
don’t work. Such grumblings can most often be heard from those lying prone on
the couch waiting for their fame and fortune to simply descend upon them.

Of course the laws of attraction work. The concept existed way before it was
packaged as “the secret law of attraction” by the book and movie. “Thoughts are
Things” is the title of Chapter One in Napoleon Hill’s invaluable 1937 classic “Think
and Grow Rich.” But “Thoughts are Things” is simply the beginning, Chapter
One. There are fourteen additional chapters in the book.

I’ll give you a hint as to what the message is here — “Thoughts are Things”
is only the beginning of the laws of attraction. The first step on the road to
attracting and attaining everything you want.

That’s not to say the laws of attraction are hard. On the other hand, you
can’t just sit there and “wish” your way into the life you desire.
The secret law of attraction contains two “secrets.” You must master both
and only then can you attract anything you desire. We’ll start pursuing
the two laws of attraction next time.

The “key” that a lot of people forget about the Law of Attraction is the word ACTION imbedded in attrACTION.

Lying on the couch, as you say, is going to lead to a lot of disappointment. But taking ACTION is going to attrACT a lot of things in your direction.

It’s just up to you as to what you attract; positive or negative.

Do you have any information on attracting money? I’m interested on that subject.
