The “Real” Secret Behind the Laws of Attraction
Let’s face it, the secret law of attraction is really no secret anymore. Anyone who breaths associates the phrase “The Secret” with the book and/or movie about the law of attraction.
But the book, and all the hype surrounding it, effectively hide the fact that there are really two “secrets” to the laws of attraction. The first one i talked about last time — you must have a burning desire for something to attract that thing into your life. That one’s not a secret anymore. The only reason people are failing at this first of the laws of attraction is that they are merely “wishing” for things, rather than developing an all-consuming “burning desire” for them. But that was our subject for last time . . .
The real secret behind the laws of attraction is rarely even mentioned, and certainly never the focus of those touting both the virtues and the pitfalls of the laws of attraction. Those promoting the laws of attraction in their ebooks and courses don’t want to talk about it because it sounds like WORK. We’re all searching for a way to get out of WORK, not to sign up for more.
Those whining about how the laws of attraction don’t work won’t talk about the real secret because either (1) they don’t know it, or (2) it sounds like WORK. And, you guessed it, who wants to WORK?
So what is the second of the laws of attraction? The one that really is still a secret to most. Inspired Action.
First, you must have a burning desire to achieve something. Second, you must take inspired action to achieve it.
Is *inspired action* just a fancy way of saying you have to *work* to get what you want? Yes and no. It depends on your attitude.
To some people, creating an online business is work. The websites, the content, the copywriting, the listbuilding, driving traffic . . . work, work, work. When i do these things for my business, they don’t feel like work to me. I’m taking ACTION that is INSPIRED by my BURNING DESIRE to change my life. It’s a totally different feeling from the *work* i do at my *job.*
Inspired action is just as essential to attracting what you want as is the development of a burning desire. Let’s go back to Napoleon Hill: “desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.”
Hill’s fourth step to turning desire into gold is to “create a definite plan for carrying out your desire, and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.”
What if the action you have to take to fulfill your burning desire feels like work to you? Then you need to re-evaluate either your burning desire and/or your inspired action. Do you really have a burning desire? Or is it just a “wish,” “hope,” or “dream?” Does it consume your every waking moment? Or just come and go when it’s convenient for you to put some thought into it?
Is the course of action you’ve chosen right for you? Do you have a passion for it? Are you inspired to do it? Or is it just a j-o-b? These days, everyone has an opportunity to make a living by pursuing his or her passion.
Frank Kern, internet marketing multi-millionaire, posted this on Twitter last week: “I shouldn’t admit this, but I’m often happiest when working. I guess because I don’t consider this marketing stuff to be “work”.” Exactly.
Let your burning desire inspire you to take action. Today. Whatever your desire inspires you to do, that’s certainly the action that will bring the change you’re seeking.
