Can you believe it’s July?! Halfway through the year, already. It feels like it should still be March to me. But it’s not. And it’s time to check in with yourself and see if you’re halfway to meeting your goals.
And I must admit, if I could go back to March, there are some things I’d make myself do that I somehow haven’t gotten around to yet. And, experience tells me that I’m not alone.
Most serious entrepreneurs make goals at the start of each year. But for many of us, life gets in the way. Which leaves you very disappointed at the end of the year.
Fortunately, this year can be different.
If you’re only 25% of the way to your goals, or even 10%, there is still time. But, you have to start now. You have to make this week a turning point for you.
How do I know this? As a master procrastinator and single mom with lots of “no time” excuses, I’ve “been here, done this” before. And I’ve laid in bed on New Year’s Eve ~ disappointed, defeated, and deflated ~ with the memories of where I told myself I’d be on that day last year; and the reality of being farther away from there than ever.
And it sucks. In fact, it sucks so bad that it motivated me to do something different so I could be somewhere different.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe there’s a cure to procrastination. But, there are ways to manage it. One of them is to set specific times to check-in with yourself. If you find during your “check-in” that you’re not where you want to be, it’s time to do a quick visualization exercise.
I don’t care if visualization sounds “weird” to you, just do this.
Spend 5 minutes seeing where you’ll be at the end of the year if you don’t get back on track today. Spend 5 minutes seeing where you’ll be if you do kick things into gear. Pay special attention to the emotions that go along with each scenario.
Then get started with the simple exercise I give you in the video to use the first six months of your year, to make the last six months of your year, rock.
Let me know in the comments what your plan of action is for meeting all of your year-long goals this year. I’ll be checking back in with you in a couple of months to see how it’s going.
